It was to be given annually to a person or per sons for distinguished service, selected by a committee appo inted by the Bishop. Today that responsibility rests with th e Laity Council. After 1980 it was given to an outstanding L ayman and Laywoman each year. In 2004 a third category was a dded to name an outstanding Young Adult Layperson. The award is now presented at the recipient’s local church by the Boa rd of Laity - they are also named during the annual conferen ce session and recognized at the Laity Dinner.Guidelines to consider when submitting a nomination: Nominee must be an active member of the Congregation submitting the applicatio n. Nominee should currently exemplify strong leadership s kills within the congregation in activities such as Bible st udy, training programs, local participation, Sunday school, and in general should be an example of Christian stewardship .
