UM Joint Commission

The Joint Commission was founded as a grass-roots effort born of a pastor in the Imperial Valley and the Northwest Annual Conference in Mexico to foster church-to-church support.  This continues today with support in repairing churches, supporting seminary students with scholarships, community projects, and support for pastors.   Visit the web site at www.jointcomm.org.

A new effort for the Joint Commission is the Border Ministry.  Churches in Mexico have found themselves having to provide support for deportees from the United States who are returned to Mexico from the United States.  They arrive with virtually nothing more than the clothes that they are wearing.  Food, a place to stay, medical services, job search assistance and financial help to return to their home in Mexico are some of the services they require.  Methodist churches in Mexico are working hard to meet their needs.  Food and financial support are critical to help with this human crisis.
